Purpose of the Job

Works with relevant stakeholders, ensures roadmap preparation and on-time execution. The concept here would  very much include taking nascent ideas and by means of partnering with the business, and working with a small team of technology specialists, to work up technology prototypes that can be shown to IMS Health external clients and used to confirm business requirements for potentially larger development projects to follow.

 ·         Within the role of a Senior Programme/Project Manager, to provide leadership, motivation, support and direction to project teams.

·         To define and deliver one or more concurrent projects ensuring assigned projects are conducted professionally and delivered according to agreed business objectives, agreed schedule and agreed budget.

·         To ensure that software developed is developed consistently within the business and departmental strategic vision.

·         To liaise with the other GTSO groups such as: Business Architecture, Technical Architecture, Operations & Production and Production Services (Support) groups as necessary to ensure the successful delivery of required projects.

·         To manage third party delivery partners, onsite, near-shore, offshore and onshore.

·         To liaise with IMS commercial teams and other third party agencies.

 

 Principal Accountabilities

 Key Responsibilities may include:

·         The management of key business stakeholders is a primary responsibility required for each of these roles, with the purpose of establishing and maintaining positive relationships whilst effectively managing expectations.

·         The management of small, quick, iterative prototyping projects focussed upon demonstrating and establish new business concepts, whether this be developing new software components and/or enriching existing components.

·         Taking these concepts (when agreed) and potentially establishing a larger implementation project to fulfil the development in a more robust and production worthy manner.

·         This would entail being able to structure potentially large pieces of work into smaller related projects, with appropriate resourcing, schedule, risks and issues called out.

·         Taking delivery oversight and responsibility for these larger pieces of work  and ensuring delivery by:

·         Overseeing and co-ordinating project work for less experienced Project Managers and/or Team Leaders.

·         Plan, direct, control, monitor and report this work on a project basis, ensuring that this work is defined, controlled and delivered as agreed.

·         Manage all of the financial and reporting aspects of all projects under his/her control.

·         Ensuring the correct and appropriate engagement with all relevant technical groups: Architecture, Development centres (in Bangalore, Dhaka and Warsaw), Testing and Support. Need to ensure that the appropriate deliverables are planned for to develop and maintain the architecture, documentation and source code of software deliveries.

·         Overseeing the preparation and management of time & material and /or fixed bid projects.

·         If necessary the management of third party delivery partners: onsite, near-shore, onshore and offshore.

·         Ensuring the correct and appropriate engagement of interaction with other (non technical) IMS teams and outside agencies.

·         Develop and maintain the technical documentation of these applications.

 

 Knowledge and Experience

·         Extensive IT Project Management experience, within a software development role.

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

·         Prince II

·         Must have experience in understanding business needs and interpreting them into technical requirements.

·         Must have experience of working with off-shore companies, in an on-shore/off-shore resourcing model.

 

Candidate Requirements          

·         Be able to demonstrate that they are self-motivated and can work proactively.

·         Be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Must have a proven track record of delivering successfully on large and/ or complex projects, including balancing delivery time against budget and client needs.

·         Must have a proven track record in managing and motivating staff.

·         Proven experience of networking, identifying and building relationships internally and throughout the company, and able to demonstrate that relationship building has been used effectively to the benefit of the business.

·         Creative / innovative with sound administration ability.
